Driving Directions to Cubuy, Naguabo (Maps at bottom of page) 

*CAUTION: Do not try to reach Cubuy by driving south on Route 191 from Palmer (Route 3), on the north side. The road is closed.

* CAUTION: If you're coming south on Route 53 from Fajardo, there is a misplaced sign for "Exit 22, 1 kilometer," prior to Exit 20. Do not take exit 20, but continue on to Exit 22. Exit 22 is correctly marked at the exit. If you're coming north from Humacao on 53, disregard this warning, as it won't affect you.

From San Juan, take 18 south to 52 south. Stay on 52 south until the inactive toll plaza, then exit immediately on the right (Route 1).

Stay on Route 1 approximately 1/2 mile until you go under a bridge. Exit immediately after the bridge, following signs for Rt. 30 East (Este) towards Humacao.

[You may take the scenic shortcut to Cubuy by exiting in Juncos onto Route 31. Turn left at the stop light at the bottom of the ramp, then stay on 31 until you pass through the town of Rio Blanco. Cross the trestle bridge, then turn left onto Route 191. At the next bridge, turn left to cross the bridge. Welcome to Cubuy!]

Take Route 30 all the way to the end, then take Route 53 North.

Take Exit 20, then turn left at the bottom of the ramp.

Once under the underpass, turn left again back onto 53 South. Get off at the next exit, #22.

At the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Route 31. Approximately 1/2 mile up, there is a trestle bridge. Do not cross it, but stay straight on Route 191.

Cross the next bridge you come to, a new one with an old trestle bridge right beside it. Welcome to Cubuy!

Once in Cubuy:

For Casa Picaflores/Casita Zumbador: Immediately after crossing the bridge, turn sharp right onto the unmarked road. Approximately 200 yards further, bear left after crossing the small concrete bridge. Continue uphill until you reach a suddenly wooded area. Casa Picaflores is the first driveway on your right, with the small painting of a hummingbird hanging from the fence.

For all other accomodations:

Continue on 191 up the mountain.

Robin Phillips' Cabins are after the small evengelical church on your left, at kilometer 24.2. Park in the space beside the entrance to the driveway.

Nelson's Country Home is a little further up the mountain, a green house on the right-hand side of the road. A sign "Nelson's Country Home" sign is posted on the side of the house facing you as you drive uphill.

Casa Cubuy is the second-to-last building on the road, on the right-hand side, a large, green-blue structure with plenty of signage.
