Casita Zumbador
Casita Zumbador is a one bedroom cabin on the property of the Casa Picaflores Bed and Breakfast. Guests in the Casita have full use of all of the services of Casa Picaflores (optional massage therapy, breakfasts, rain-forest Jacuzzi, etc.) Our normal rate is $60 per night, but please call for specific rates: rates are lower in the offseason, and may be higher on and around certain holidays. The Casita sleeps one person or a couple, possibly with a small child; there is one full-size bed. There is a balcony running the length of the front, which has two chairs and a bistro table, as well as a small grill available for those who would like to barbecue. The casita has a small yard of its own, bordered by bananas, breadfruit, orange, avocado and grapefruit trees, coconut palms and a tiny stream; guests are, of course, welcome to any fruit they can gather.
Casita Zumbador is designed to be a clean, simple, affordable place for an outdoorsy person or couple to lay their heads while hiking, swimming and exploring on this end of the island. As such, it is no-frills, and not for the finicky. There is no air conditioning; a ceiling fan and three windows keep things cool inside. High temperatures here in the mountains are generally around 80 in the daytime, mid-sixties at night. There is no telephone and no mini-fridge. There is a television with DVD in El Bohio, close to the casita, and we have a sizable collection of DVDs that may be checked out at no charge. Guests have full access to the hot tub area, El Bohio, and all of the services that Casa Picaflores offers, including wireless internet.
You will need a car to enjoy your stay here. Apart from our rainforest streams, lovely flowers and delicious organic fruits, there are no attractions within a reasonable walking distance; the rain forest is up the mountain and there are a number of obstacles to pedestrians between here and there. The closest "publico" route is some three miles from the property, and you'll spend most of your vacation trying to get from point A to B to C. Just to repeat, you'll need a car to enjoy your stay here.
You can check us out on tripadvisor.com to see what other travellers have had to say about their visits. You may go to the Casa Picaflores Guestbook page to read about the kind of hospitality that we provide to our guests in the Main House.
