Our small cabin is remote and private. There is a one quarter-mile hike up to the cabin, 300-foot elevation above parking. It contains a double bed, sheets, blankets, hammocks, a cot, an outdoor toilet under the porch, rain water wash and flush tank which holds 2000 gallons when full. There is also a bar-b-q grill; bring your own charcoal, though we will provide if any is left over from former guests. There is an ice cooler, bring ice or we can supply a few trays from the fridge,
We have trade wind mountain breezes, tree frogs calling at night and hardly any bugs. There are over 10,000 coqui frogs/acre nightly eating mosquitos. There is a mosquito net for the rare occasion of a rogue mosquito. The cabin has no electricity, only a lantern. You should bring your own flashlight or borrow my rechargable one. There are views to the east shore (8 miles), Vieques island (16 miles), the Naguabo valley and the Rio Blanco and a rainforest waterfall.
Bring food to cook or plan to go to restaurants. Three restaurants are only a short walk away for dinners, available Thursday to Sunday. We will share our extra supplies of basic foods at cost. With early notice we can often shop for guests with our own shopping. We have a 12-acre, 100% organic exotic fruit farm jungle with over 100 varieties that guests can sample from in season. You may have to pick your own; we have pole pickers for you to use.
Our home freezer, hot shower, towels, bathroom and kitchen are available to our guests. Guests can use our electricity on the porch to charge phones etc. We are a 90-minute drive from the airport, 15 minutes to groceries and restaurants in Naguabo (open until between 6-10 pm) Nearby, there are hikes to the rainforest, waterfalls with clean swimming holes with safe drinking water, our fruit farm and indian rock carvings. Beaches are close in Naguabo or 40 minutes to Luquillo in the north or Palmas del Mar in the south.
We provide a map or offer guided tours to the rainforest. Borrow our walking sticks, but please return them. Borrow or buy our plastic ponchos $3. $40.00/day/couple sharing double bed for first 2 nights and $30.00 additional nights plus $10 extra person. We offer a $5 discount for former guests.
