There are three local establishments on the mountain. All serve typical Puerto Rican food at reasonable prices in a casual, bar-type atmosphere. They are:
Villa Flores - Almost all the way up the mountain, near Casa Cubuy. They specialize in mofongo (a kind of deep-fried, mashed plantain cake), and only open about twice a week.
Mountain View - About halfway up the mountain, on the road just above Robin Phillips' Cabins. They seem to be open most of the time, and are marketing to tourists. An example of their daily menu appears below.
Paradores, or the Rainforest Hideout - A bar with a pool table, about 1/4 of a mile down the road from Robin Phillips' place. They make an enormous relleno de papa, which is basically a deep-fried shepherd's pie in ball shape. Generally open Wednesday-Saturday nights.
